It all began one day in July...

WoMAD began on July 9, 2003 by four women who were tired of being consumed with their lives and problems! So instead of talking about it they decided to do something about it. In essence they wanted to make a difference and leave a legacy behind. Each had experienced the act of doing something for someone else. They realized that when they were doing service for others, that their problems seemed to be much smaller and they received a lot of joy in return. As they began their journey they found that there are many women and men who have the drive to do the same. Women Making a Difference began by changing four lives individually and collectively and that number is growing everyday.

As people started to get word of WoMAD it started to grow. While doing service is not a new concept, we feel that WoMAD is unique because not only does it provide an opportunity of doing service, of helping others but it provides women with a sisterhood, a community of friends, of people who care, of Women Making A Difference.
